Seismic Simulation Laboratory

About

The Seismic Simulation Laboratory at NED University of Engineering and Technology is a state-of-the-art facility used for earthquake engineering research and testing. It is located in the Department of Earthquake Engineering at the university's campus in Karachi, Pakistan.

Key aspects of the lab include:
Earthquake Simulation: The facility can generate both periodic and non-periodic (earthquake-like) vibrations with controlled frequency and amplitude to test the stability of different models.
Research & Testing: The lab is integral to numerous research projects, including testing the effectiveness of retrofitting techniques for existing structures and evaluating new construction methods.
Collaboration: NED University frequently collaborates with national and international organisations, such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), for demonstrations and projects aimed at building disaster resilience.
Educational Use: It provides students with practical insights into structural dynamics and earthquake-related phenomena, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
