BACHELOR OF ARCHITECTURE
Objective and Philosophy
The objective of the Bachelor of Architecture Programme at NED University is to develop professionals capable of addressing the issues of built environment in a comprehensive manner.
The Bachelor of Architecture Programme at NED University aims to produce technically sound and socially responsive professionals equipped with an understanding of contemporary tools and skills in the profession. The NED architects are expected to be able to define and develop their responsive role in the society and fulfill the needs of a rapidly diversifying job market.
Curriculum Highlights
The University now conducts all its undergraduate programmes including Bachelor of Architecture, through a semester system, spread over 10 semesters. Award of Division in Bachelor of Architecture is made on the basis of five year performance. The curriculum is structured around the following six essential streams of learning with appropriate courses in the respective years:

Architectural Design
Architectural Design is the foremost component of the curriculum that prepares the student for design application in the field. The Architecture design course is taught sequentially over five years which is initiated with Basic Design in first year. Introduction to Interior Design and Landscape Architecture are also included as support courses to the design curriculum.
- Year 1 to Year 5
History of Civilisation
The History of Civilisation block is spread over three courses spaced over three years. The courses chronologically trace the architectural and built environment developments from the ancient world to present day, with a focus on the Muslim World and South Asian region in particular.
- Year 1 to Year 4
Environment, Planning and Development
Courses under this heading provide a holistic background of the social, economic and political environment in which architects operate. Introduction to Development Studies, Housing and Community Development, Urban Planning and Design, and Comprehensive Environmental Design are the courses that are offered in sequence.
- Year 1 to Year 4
Construction, Materials and Technology
The emphasis of courses under this stream of learning focus on the understanding of construction methods, materials and range of technology used in the application of buildings and structures. It is vertically present in all the five years of architectural studies.
- Year 2 to Year 4
Computer Applications in Design
This stream highlights the emerging importance of computer as a tool and the wide range of its applications. The students are prepared to use computer as a tool in their design, presentation and drafting assignments.
- Year 2 & Year 3
Structure for Architects
The three courses taught over three years provide a comprehensive orientation about the structural concepts, terminologies and applications of building design in the field.
